Diary in the French Countryside

11th August

For the past few years, I’ve been visiting a small village in the Limousin region of France. I’d like to keep a record of the moments and experiences I encounter there.

Sunday the 11th was the village’s annual day of prayer at a small church. There was music, words from the priest, and animals alongside the villagers, all gathered in nature to share a moment of gratitude

Francesca kindly arranged a haircutting session for the villagers at a café in a village a little further away. She decorated the simple garden with beautiful flowers and created a warm, welcoming space for me to work. I simply cut hair, one person after another.

Surrounded by nature, I really enjoyed getting to know new people in a place where the environment and culture were so different from what I was used to. What felt especially refreshing was the simplicity of the process—just cutting hair, without doing much styling afterwards.

I think that, as time passes, I’ll come to understand the joy of discovering new connections and perspectives through this process in a different way.

Above all, what stayed with me most was seeing so many genuinely beautiful smiles.
